Assistant Buyer

Peterborough PE1 (fully onsite role)

12 Month Contract

37 hours a week: 07:00-15:00 Mon-Fri

Up to £17.91 PAYE hourly rate plus holiday and pension contribution OR Umbrella hourly rates up to £24.31

We’re looking for an Assistant Buyer with at least 1 year of relevant experience that is analytical, has excellent attention to detail and a positive proactive outlook, to join our globally renowned Fortune 100 OEM client’s purchasing department in Peterborough. What will the Assistant Buyer do?

  • Be part of the Purchase group, and will work alongside Engineering teams to deliver quality NPI projects on time
  • Process requisitions and provide support for purchasing, supply chain, sourcing, cost, price analyses and contract/purchase order generation
  • Support with pricing information and supplier selection
  • Perform analytical & administrative tasks to support strategic purchasing
  • Execute the planning, coordinating, and reporting of procurement activity to support allocated research and development or capital projects
  • Research and assess existing and potential prototype suppliers; making recommendations on supplier selection to meet desired project timelines

What experience does the Assistant Buyer need?

  • 1 year minimum in a similar purchasing role. Engineering/Manufacturing purchasing experience is desirable.
  • Strong PC skills: Microsoft packages and proven ability of working an MRP system
  • Excellent interpersonal skills - personality really will go a long way in this instance!
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Ability to collect, interpret, and act on procurement data to meet business goals
  • Analytical Thinking: Skilled in identifying root causes & solving procurement-related issues.
  • CIPS Qualification is desirable
  • Ability to work with a high level of accuracy and excellent attention to detail
