Buyer - Peterlee - Initial 12 Month Contract

Up to £21 per hour PAYE / Up to £27.50 per hour via an umbrella company

We’re looking for a Buyer with excellent commercial awareness, to provide supply network procurement excellence for a globally renowned articulated truck manufacturer in Peterlee. This is an initial 12 month contract with PAYE or umbrella rates available. Currently there is a mix of WFH and in the office (50/50 split), as a global manufacturer there are many Covid safety measures in place on site.

What will the Buyer do?

  • Manage direct material purchase orders; as well as invoice price grief, lifespan of Purchase Orders, and engineering change requirements which affect Purchase Orders
  • Work with other areas of the business and suppliers to ensure material supply, and procurement process (POs, materials, invoices, and payments) are happening as they should
  • Purchase all direct material which goes into the manufacturing of the trucks

What skills and experience will the Buyer need?

  • Procurement background e.g. Buyer with demonstrable purchasing experience
  • Commodity experience would be great: in particular Steel and Rubber (amongst others)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills both written and verbal
  • Computer literacy including MS word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Process driven and methodical
  • Previous MRP system experience - desirable
  • Knowledge + experience of compliance structure and requirements - desirable
  • Internal Audit experience - desirable
  • Knowledge of Quality and Lean manufacturing/principles - desirable
  • Professional certification in Purchasing/Inventory management - desirable
  • 6 Sigma Green/Black belt knowledge/experience - desirable
