EMC Engineer  

Role is based on site in Chard, Somerset - some hybrid working may be possible as/when workload allows

We're looking for an EMC Engineer to join a leading British OEM undergoing substantial expansion in the next 3-5 years! They make 150+ products; one of them being a very familiar name, renowned in homes & businesses here in the UK & Globally. This role is based at their manufacturing site, located on the glorious Somerset, Devon, and Dorset borders - the sea being just a short car journey away!

Joining the R&D team as EMC Engineer, what would you do?

  • Provide support and extensive technical guidance to our client’s compliance team - you will be an important and pivotal member of the team!
  • Collaborate with external suppliers & testing organisations to coordinate and manage test programs
  • Work with the wider R&D team during NPD to ensure new products are suitable for approval
  • Lead a small team of Specialist Engineers / Technicians
  • Ensure compliance testing activities run smoothly using effective planning and reporting tools
  • Collate data suitable for inclusion into the technical files, ensuring that all relevant data is accurate and satisfies FCC, UL, CE, LVD, Machinery Directive, EMC, RoHS, REACH etc.
  • Assist in the management of the certification library of approved products
  • Ensure all compliance risks/issues are identified and effectively communicated
  • Assist in the development of training modules and delivering guidance to internal teams

What skills and experience will the Product Design Engineer need?

  • Strong understanding of EMC testing and challenges (Emissions/Immunity) on domestic/commercial products
  • Previous experience within a product compliance/regulatory role. HNC/HND level in a relevant Electrical or Electronic engineering discipline or significant experience in a similar role
  • Good understanding of domestic/commercial product compliance to international standards including EN, IEC, UL/CSA, FCC
  • Experience of operating/working in an EMC SAC/FAC chamber
  • Experience in internal auditing and management (i.e. ISO 9001, 17025)
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation and clearly communicate requirements
  • An understanding of electrical/electronic engineering fundamentals
