Peterborough (PE1) - Hybrid once trained (3 days on site/2 days WFH)
Initial 12-month contract - likely to extend and become permanent in the future for the right person!
37 hours a week (08.30 - 16.45 Mon - Fri, some flexibility around this)
Up to £21.47 per hour PAYE or £28.85 per hour via Umbrella contract
We’re looking for a Buyer to support our Fortune 100 globally renowned client’s Peterborough Facility in the UK, they’re a world leader in the design, manufacture, and support of a world class range of engines. If you have manufacturing procurement experience, can negotiate with suppliers, and handle their performance, complete commercial analysis, are a confident user of Microsoft Packages, and if you’re keen, enthusiastic, and willing to learn - this could be the opportunity you’ve been looking for!
What would the Buyer do?
- Ensure the specified Purchasing functions meet defined response time, cost, quality, and lean targets
- Manage procurement of manufacturing materials and parts, working with multiple suppliers
- Purchase Order Management for the facility for prototype and production parts
- Implement designated sourcing strategies for both Category & Product Supply to the facility
- Supplier Development - Identify performance gaps & develop improvement plans for the gaps
- Collaborate with supply chain to understand and monitor inventory levels, and supplier performance
What skills and experience will the Buyer need?
- Min 1-2 years demonstrable experience in a similar purchasing role, ideally within Manufacturing
- Excellent communicator via telephone, email, face to face and Teams
- Strong data analytical skills and the ability to analyse and make recommendations based on facts
- A confident user of Microsoft packages – strong Excel is key in this role (pivots, look ups, formulas)
- Experience using MRP systems. QAD experience is desirable (but can be taught if required)
- Professional certification in Purchasing and/or Inventory Management preferred, e.g. CIPS
- Knowledge of Quality, Lean manufacturing, an understanding of lean principles - desirable
