Design Engineer
Location: Peterborough, with opportunity to work from home and other flexible working options
37.00 hours per week
We currently have a new and exciting contract opportunity for a design engineer with responsibility to co-ordinate and deliver component and system designs, and also top level machine configuration activities within our clients Energy and Transportation Research team.
This innovative team is responsible for developing novel engineering solutions and processes working collaboratively with European Universities, internal and industrial partners as well as will our US based sister team. The team leads the powertrain research strategy and delivery for our client within Europe and includes global research responsibility for electrification and hybridisation systems.
What would you do?
- Create integrated solutions for powertrain systems.
- Manage BOM for multiple system and/or machine builds
- Manage your assigned tasks to agreed customer critical requirements
- Liaise with performance and mechanical development engineers, component designers and other project teams
- Evaluate and Promote new products and processes
What are we looking for?
- End to end design experience – full lifecycle experience preferred, and ideally with experience in industrial or off-highway machines
- Ideally an engineering degree or equivalent experience
- an expert user of Creo (Pro/e) for modelling and detailing; ideally with experience in cabling and harnessing
- experience of working with PLM tools for developing large assemblies of engines or whole machine design (e.g. Teamcenter Visualization Mockup)
- an appreciation of APQP Tools, Failure Mode & Effects Analysis and DVP&R
- knowledge of manufacturability considerations.
