37.5 hours a week: 08:00-16:00 Mon-Fri (some flex possible with start/ finish times)
Up to £18.75 PAYE hourly rate plus holiday and pension contribution OR Umbrella hourly rates up to £25.65

We are looking for an Assistant Buyer with 3+ years of relevant experience that is data driven, analytical and has project management experience to join our client’s Global Purchasing department in Desford. Could this assignment be the next step in your Purchasing career?
What will the Assistant Buyer do?
- Solicit supplier quotations, analyse cost breakdowns, update pricing records, and manage supplier communications.
- Lead and support resource projects, resolve procurement challenges, and address invoice-related discrepancies.
- Coordinate supplier onboarding processes and foster strong, ongoing vendor relationships.
- Work in close partnership with the Site Buyer and contribute to the wider Specialty Products and Site procurement teams.
- Leverage Team Centre for Change Notices and navigate various systems.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance performance across quality, cost, logistics, development, and management (QCLDM) metrics.
- Oversee the end-to-end procurement cycle: negotiating supplier contracts, evaluating bids, issuing purchase orders, monitoring deliveries, and managing inventory levels.
- Maintain up-to-date procurement documentation and uphold compliance standards.
What experience does the Assistant Buyer need?
- 3 years minimum in a similar purchasing role, ideally within Manufacturing purchasing.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Ability to collect, interpret, and act on procurement data to meet business goals.
- Analytical Thinking: Skilled in identifying root causes & solving procurement-related issues.
- Effective Communication: Proficient in conveying information clearly and professionally.
- Project Management: Competent in managing and executing procurement-related projects.
- Procurement Expertise: Deep understanding of procurement methods, systems, and tools.
- Systems Knowledge: Familiar with a range of procurement platforms and able to adapt to new systems quickly.
- Purchasing Processes: Understanding of procurement regulations, workflows, and documentation standards.
- Logistics Coordination: Awareness of supply chain logistics and inventory management best practices.
- Microsoft office and ERP system experience. SAP or Teamcenter experience is desirable
