Senior Engine Test Technician - ICE/Engines
Permanent contract – Site Based – Bedford
£38,000 – £43,500 + Incredible Benefits (stated below)
Shift Work:Mornings (06:00–14:00), or Afternoons (14:00–22:00), or Days (08:00–16:30)
This is a hands-on opportunity where you’ll take ownership of test bed operations, working closely with engineers to support high-profile projects that push the limits of internal combustion engine technology!

Your Day-to-Day:
As a Senior Engine Test Technician, you’ll play a vital role in delivering complex ICE development programmes. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading engine installation, instrumentation, and test cell setup
- Validating engine systems and support equipment for safe and accurate operation
- Running both automated and manual test cycles, including advanced testing with engineering support
- Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults and contributing to root cause analysis
- Performing servicing, hardware changes, and taking ownership of test pieces
- Collaborating with Engineers, Supervisors, and customers to ensure smooth project delivery
- Supporting continuous improvement in safety, efficiency, and quality

What You Will Need For This Opportunity:
- Proven experience operating engine test beds
- Strong understanding of petrol and diesel engine systems
- Confident in diagnosing faults and working with engine support equipment
- Background in automotive, mechanical, or testing environments
- Basic mechanical and fabrication skills
- Familiarity with test automation tools (e.g. AVL PUMA, Horiba STARS)
- Full UK driving licence and access to your own transport
