Customs Compliance Specialist

Permanent full time role

Desford LE9 (Onsite role)

37.5 hours a week (usually 7.5 hours a day, during office hours)

Salary: up to £60,000 depending on experience

We are looking for a Customs Compliance Specialist who can bring their Customs knowledge and experience into a Globally Renowned Fortune 100 Engineering company, to help them ensure their compliance with HMRC Customs Regulations. This role is very customs and compliance focused, this is a trusted role to our client’s leadership team; making sure they are compliant. What will the Customs Compliance Specialist do?

  • Provide a level of strategic import export customs compliance governance, to ensure our client make the right HMRC customs compliance decisions
  • Ensure our client maintain and operate within HMRC customs compliance process
  • Ensure our client has the right documents, and compliant processes in line with HMRC Customs regulations
  • Part of your role will be oversight and governance of a third-party broker to ensure they are working in line with our client’s documented procedures
  • This role is broad in terms of governance and support, as well as operational governance to ensure our client is compliant

What experience does the Customs Compliance Specialist need?

  • Demonstrable experience in a similar Customs Compliance role, with hands on and theoretical knowledge of Customs compliance
  • Audit experience is required: as you will need to carry out Customs compliance audits
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced organisation; you’ll need to be able to work on your own and be able to identify areas of improvement – so will need high attention to detail
  • Be able to influence people, as you will work across multiple levels within the organisation
  • Reporting experience: you’ll be able to complete high level data analysis – to analyse and summarise, to share with management levels
  • Effective Communication: Proficient in conveying information clearly and professionally
  • Proficient in the Microsoft office suite
