Initial 12 month contract – rolling contract/likely to extend for the right person!
37 hours a week: Mon – Thurs 8am - 4pm, Friday 8am – 3.30pm
Up to £18.90 PAYE hourly rate plus holiday and pension contribution OR Umbrella hourly rates up to £25.65 - depending on experience
Our client is a globally renowned world leader in the design, manufacture and support of a world class range of engines, they are looking for an Electronics & Instrumentation Technician to join their Electronics, Controls and Instrumentation (EC&I) team, who are responsible for the calibration and maintenance of the test facility measurement instrumentation and control systems to ensure quality data output is maintained and to assist engine development and verification.
The ideal candidate needs the knowledge, base skills, and experience to be able to calibrate, repair and maintain the electronic control and data acquisition systems including precision instrumentation within the facility to the high standard required to keep the company at the forefront of today’s technology. This also includes the ability to maintain records, read and interpret technical drawings and work with engineers, contractors, and colleagues to install, commission, and maintain new, refurbished, and modified equipment.
Responsibilities are varied and will include:
• Build/Upgrade of instrumentation panels
• Conduct electronic diagnostic investigations using appropriate instrumentation
• Conduct Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) and calibrations of engine test cells and equipment
• Maintain and upgrade test rigs and equipment
• Provide first line breakdown cover for engine test cells and equipment
Skills and Experience required:
• Either qualified through a technical apprenticeship with electrical/electronic bias or equivalent industry experience within the electronics/electrical field.
• Experienced in build/manufacture of instrumentation panels
• Calibration and fault finding of precision instrumentation
• The ability to follow written work instructions and document progress
• Ability to read and interpret, electronic design schematics, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical drawings.
Desirable:
• Multi-skilled in both Electrical and Electronics disciplines
• Understanding/experience of working in engine test cell environment
• Understanding/experience of Root Cause Analysis techniques and permanent corrective actions.
• ISO7671:2017 IEE 18th Edition Electrical Regulations
• Competent in Microsoft Office Suite
• Level 3 Apprenticeship or HNC or equivalent in an electronic/electrical discipline
