Mechanical Design Engineer

We're recruiting on behalf of an established engineering business that designs and manufactures specialist electro-mechanical products for industrial applications.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with strong SolidWorks expertise to join a collaborative engineering team and contribute to the development of innovative products from concept through to manufacture.
The Role
You'll be responsible for producing high-quality 3D models, 2D manufacturing drawings, assemblies and Bills of Materials (BOMs), working closely with Engineering, Production, Purchasing and Sales teams to deliver robust, cost-effective design solutions.
Key Responsibilities
• Create and maintain 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks
• Develop assemblies, sub-assemblies and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
• Design sheet metal and electro-mechanical products for manufacture
• Support product testing, validation and continuous improvement activities
• Maintain engineering documentation, drawing registers and version control
• Work with suppliers and internal teams to support product and cost improvements
• Ensure designs comply with relevant quality and industry standards
About You
Essential:
• Minimum 5 years' industrial design experience
• Strong SolidWorks experience (essential)
• Experience producing 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings
• Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication and mechanical assemblies
• Experience creating and managing BOMs
Desirable:
• AutoCAD, EPLAN or ERP system experience
• Electro-mechanical product design experience
• Knowledge of EMC requirements and AC/DC systems
• Experience within switchgear, control panels, power distribution or related industries
